Axe de la Defense, Paris

The Axe de la Defense is part of the famous Axe historique, which runs from the Louvre in the center to the La Defense district in the west of Paris. The business district, which is characterized by high-rise buildings, is partly located in the city of Paris, but also extends to the three western suburbs of Nanterre, Courbevoie and Puteaux. In the center of La Defense, the well-known Grand Arche is located almost directly on the Axe historique, although it had to be rotated by around 6.5° from the line of sight during planning and construction for structural reasons.
