Edeka Future Market, Nauen

The EDEKA Future Market is a prototypical, sustainably designed supermarket built from wood, which sets new standards in contemporary retail under the motto "The future is...". The architecture, shopfitting, refrigeration, and graphics follow a consistently minimalist store concept that focuses on sustainability, orientation, and product presentation. Modular fresh food areas, flexible refrigerated display cases, and the conscious use of recycled materials have created a market that is both efficient to operate and atmospheric to experience.

From a photographic perspective, the market appears as a clearly structured, light-flooded sales area in which architecture and retail space form a unified whole. My focus was on highlighting the wooden support structure, the interplay of daylight, reduced colorfulness, and product presentation, as well as the innovative cooling systems. The general planning was carried out by the Berlin-based office ZRS Architekten, while Schweitzer and Interstore were responsible for the design and interior construction of all retail spaces and for the installation of the cooling systems.
