Happy Birthday - Kino International. In November 2023, the world-famous cinema on Karl-Marx-Allee in Berlin celebrated its 60th birthday. Reason enough for me to show the photos commissioned by the Yorck-Kinogruppe for the 50th anniversary again as a complete series. Designed by architect Josef Kaiser, the building took three years to build and was officially opened in 1963. From then on, it was an attractive venue for numerous film premieres and cultural events.
From February 2024, the historic building will be closed for around two years. After more than sixty years of cinema history, it will be renovated in accordance with the plans of Dickmann Richter Architekten and brought up to the latest technical standards.
